TechFlow reported on June 17, citing CoinDesk, that the final deadline for Europe’s MiCA regulatory transition period is approaching at the end of this month. BitGo, which is regulated by Germany’s BaFin, announced that its Crypto-as-a-Service platform can provide European crypto companies with a more convenient route toward MiCA compliance. The company said firms do not need to build a separate compliant operating system from the ground up in order to use the service.
Wallet integration and segregated custody
Under the arrangement described by BitGo, companies only need to connect their existing wallets to BitGo’s wallet system and complete KYC work that meets MiCA requirements. After that process, customer assets can be held in compliant segregated custody accounts. The service is designed around BitGo’s existing wallet and custody infrastructure, while adding the identity verification steps required under MiCA.
BitGo also said that using its Crypto-as-a-Service platform does not prevent a company from continuing to apply for its own CASP license. Firms can connect to BitGo’s system while simultaneously pursuing their own CASP authorization. For European crypto businesses that are still in the licensing process, the platform is presented as a way to align operations with compliance requirements before the transition period ends.
Fees and the CASP authorization landscape
On pricing, BitGo CEO Mike Belshe said the fees are relatively low, with a minimum monthly cost of around several thousand dollars. The company offers two billing structures: one based on transaction volume and another based on a fixed rate. Businesses can choose between the two options according to their own transaction activity and operating needs.
According to an estimate from the law firm Hogan Lovells, only 194 CASPs in Europe had been authorized as of May 2026. Hogan Lovells also estimated that around 75% of crypto firms that were registered before MiCA will lose their registration status after the transition period ends. Against that backdrop, BitGo is positioning its platform as a MiCA compliance “lifeline” for European crypto companies that still need to bridge their operations into the new regulatory framework before the end-of-month deadline.
