Accumulation and Index Inclusion
Bitmine has expanded its Ethereum holdings to 5.7 million ETH, representing approximately 4.7% of the total circulating supply. This brings the company just 0.3 percentage points away from the 5% target previously set by noted analyst Tom Lee, a milestone that has drawn broad market attention. Concurrently, Bitmine has been added to the Russell 1000 Index, a widely followed benchmark for U.S. large-cap equities. Inclusion in this index means Bitmine's stock (BMNR) will be automatically purchased by passive funds and ETFs that track the Russell 1000, potentially funneling hundreds of millions of dollars in institutional capital into the company.
Market Performance and Staking Revenue
Despite the bullish accumulation, market conditions have been less favorable. The price of Ethereum has declined by approximately 8% over the same period, while Bitmine's own stock (BMNR) has fallen 13% this week alone. From its year-to-date high, BMNR has plunged over 90%, reflecting a dramatic loss of market capitalization. However, Bitmine's staking operations provide a significant counterbalance: based on current staking yields, the 5.7 million ETH holdings could generate an estimated $246 million in annual revenue. This staking income serves as a crucial financial buffer and highlights the strategic value of the company's large ETH position, even amid volatile market conditions.
