Bitmine Continues to Accumulate Ethereum, Holdings Approach 5% Target
Crypto mining firm Bitmine (BMNR) has announced an increase in its Ethereum holdings to 5.7 million ETH, representing 4.7% of the total supply. This brings the company within striking distance of the 5% target previously proposed by well-known analyst Tom Lee, who had argued that reaching this threshold would significantly boost Bitmine's stock and ecosystem influence.
Russell 1000 Index Inclusion to Drive Passive Fund Inflows
Bitmine has also been added to the Russell 1000 Index, a major milestone that will trigger automatic allocation by passive funds and ETFs tracking the index. This is expected to attract substantial and stable institutional capital flows into BMNR shares, further enhancing the company's market standing.
Market Divergence: ETH Down 8%, BMNR Stock Under Pressure
Despite the bullish developments, market reactions have been mixed. Over the same period, Ethereum's price has declined by approximately 8%, while BMNR shares dropped 13% for the week and have fallen over 90% from their year-to-date high. Analysts suggest that concerns over the cost of accumulation and macro liquidity tightening may be weighing on sentiment.
Staking Income Estimate: $246 Million Annualized
Bitmine currently stakes a significant portion of its ETH holdings. Based on current staking yields, the company's annualized staking income is estimated at $246 million, providing a sizeable recurring revenue stream that could partially offset volatility in token prices.
