Atlanta-based cryptocurrency payment processor Bitpay has officially launched Bitpay Send, a mass payout service designed to help organizations of all sizes pay employees, freelancers, and affiliates in digital assets. The platform supports Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ripple (XRP), and several stablecoins, allowing recipients to receive funds without requiring a bank account — only a crypto wallet and a Bitpay ID.

How Bitpay Send Works

According to the official announcement, companies fund their payments in fiat currency, and Bitpay leverages blockchain technology to send the equivalent value in crypto to recipients. This model eliminates the need for employers to buy or hold digital currencies, shielding them from inherent market volatility. Recipients gain instant access to their crypto earnings, which they can later convert or hold.

The service charges a 1% fee for processing cross-border payments. All users must complete Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification. Bitpay Send competes directly with existing platforms like Bitwage, which also offers crypto payroll infrastructure.

Early Adoption: Adgate Media

Digital advertising firm Adgate Media is one of the first clients to integrate Bitpay Send. President Dan Sapozhnikov explained that many of their affiliates, particularly those outside North America and Europe, prefer to be paid in bitcoin but face difficulties accessing traditional banking. “With Bitpay Send, we are able to get our affiliates paid in a matter of minutes and not days,” he said. He also highlighted that Bitpay manages the risk of holding crypto, which was a decisive factor for choosing the new service.

Supported Assets and Use Cases

Bitpay Send currently supports payouts in BTC, BCH, ETH, XRP, and major stablecoins. Beyond payroll, the platform can be used for customer cashout requests, independent contractor payments, reward and rebate distributions, and financial settlements with marketplace sellers. The company emphasizes that all blockchain transactions are pre-tax and settled without exposing the payer to crypto volatility risk.

CEO Remarks and Industry Context

Bitpay CEO Stephen Pair commented: “Blockchain payment adoption is growing because it offers an easy way to send and receive payments on a global scale. Traditional international payment methods are cumbersome, costly, and slow. With Bitpay Send, companies can make mass payouts without having to buy, own or manage crypto — and their recipients receive payments quicker and at a lower cost.”

The launch of Bitpay Send marks another step toward mainstream crypto adoption in corporate finance. As more enterprises seek faster and cheaper alternatives to traditional wire transfers, services like Bitpay Send and Bitwage are likely to see increasing demand. The service is available immediately to businesses that meet Bitpay's compliance requirements.
