Blockaid’s security report for the first half of 2026 says the crypto industry lost more than $1 billion over the six-month period, with the number of hacking incidents reaching a record high for that span. The onchain security firm tracked 212 security incidents in total, including a single KelpDAO attack that caused $292 million in losses. Ethereum and Solana recorded the largest amounts of stolen funds among all networks covered in the report, at about $332 million and $326 million respectively. Blockaid also said the number of high-threshold attacks in the first half of 2026 was 3.4 times the total seen in all of 2025. On Ethereum, incidents were mainly driven by code vulnerabilities, including bridge and smart contract flaws, unauthorized access to privileged accounts, and market manipulation. On Solana, losses rose sharply from about $127 million in 2025, with more than 98% tied to key compromises, mainly in the Drift Protocol and Step Finance incidents.
