Citing people familiar with the plans, the report says the broader product range has reached a more advanced stage in recent months, and some prototypes are already close to a final shipping state in terms of hardware and software integration.
Camera-equipped AirPods are aimed at visual context, not photography
The report says the addition of tiny cameras to AirPods is not mainly about taking photos. The goal is to gather data from the physical world and give the device stronger visual context awareness. If Apple moves ahead with the concept, a revamped Siri could respond not only to voice input, but also to what the wearable is able to detect in the surrounding environment.
Bloomberg points to use cases such as real-time translation, object recognition, and richer AI-assisted interactions.
