Brazil’s central bank has developed a real-time crypto threat alert system and partnered with digital asset security firm Hypernative to support banks and domestic crypto exchanges with attack detection, incident response, and fund-tracing capabilities. The move comes after a major cybercrime case in July 2025, when attackers exploited a software vulnerability at financial middleware company C&M and stole $180 million from the financial system. Part of the stolen funds was later converted into Bitcoin and USDT through exchanges. According to Regina Pedroso, executive director of the Brazilian Tokenization Association, onboarding to the system will begin within the next two weeks, with Foxbit and Mercado Bitcoin taking part in the rollout. Authorities have already completed testing and issued some alerts. Brazil will also impose a 24-hour preventive hold on personal crypto transfers above $10,000 per transaction or in cumulative daily value.
