Broccoli(714) posted one of the sharpest moves of the early 2026 market, surging about 1200% within hours on BNB Chain. The token, described as being inspired by Changpeng Zhao’s dog, initially looked like a breakout play. That view changed quickly as suspicious transactions, thin liquidity, and possible links to a security incident came into focus.
Price raced from $0.012 to $0.16
Market data cited in the report showed Broccoli(714) climbing from roughly $0.012 to $0.16 in a matter of hours. The move was amplified by low liquidity, where aggressive spot buying can push prices much faster than in deeper markets. Blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain said the spike may have been influenced by heavy purchases made through a compromised market maker account. In a market with limited depth, even a relatively small amount of capital can create an outsized effect.
Trading activity rose just as sharply. Volume increased by about 4800% to nearly $500 million, an unusually high figure for an altcoin of this size. The main venue for the move was BNB Chain. Large buy walls on the order book pointed to possible artificial support, and the lack of a similar move in futures added to doubts over whether the spot rally reflected genuine demand.
Spot buying and futures positioning drew scrutiny
The report said the parties behind the move may have used stolen funds to buy in the spot market while opening long futures positions through separate accounts. That structure could both blur the trail of the funds and generate gains from derivatives exposure. Because Broccoli(714) was trading in a low-liquidity environment, the price could be pushed and managed in a very short window.
One trader managed to profit from the volatility. An investor identified as Vida reportedly caught the move early through an automated alert after the token jumped more than 30%. Vida judged the concentrated buying in a small-cap coin to be abnormal, entered the trade, and then reversed position once the large buy orders disappeared. The result was an estimated net gain of about $1 million.
Binance says no direct evidence of a hack yet
Following the turmoil, Binance said it had launched an investigation. The exchange added that there is no direct evidence of a hack at this stage, though the review remains ongoing. During that process, Broccoli(714) fell back to around $0.018, leaving late participants exposed after the rapid unwind.
