Data from GMGN showed that BEHEMOTH, a meme coin on BSC, briefly pushed its market capitalization above $2.7 million before falling back to $1.04 million, with a 24-hour gain of 8,251%. The token’s surge came after a developer said they had completed what was described as the first real on-chain 4-bit processor on BNB Chain. The processor, also named Behemoth, consists of 2,251 logic gates including NAND gates and flip-flops, and was said to have been cycle-by-cycle verified against performance specs comparable to Intel’s 4004 from 1971. The project has already run a Fibonacci sequence calculation, producing 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and 13. Because its execution is synchronized with BNB Chain block production, the processor runs one cycle every 0.45 seconds, or about 2.22 Hz. The developer said the full protocol will be made public so others can build their own on-chain processors and let them call one another to form more complex computing systems. Binance co-founder CZ later responded to questions about the project by asking, 「What is the use case?」, a remark that triggered community discussion.

According to GMGN data, BEHEMOTH, a meme coin on BSC, briefly saw its market capitalization rise above $2.7 million before dropping back to $1.04 million. Its 24-hour gain stood at 8,251% at the time of the report. ChainCatcher noted that meme coins can be highly volatile and said investors should participate with caution.

The move followed attention around an on-chain CPU project

Earlier, a developer said they had completed the first real on-chain 4-bit processor on BNB Chain. The processor is built from 2,251 logic gates, including NAND gates and flip-flops, and was said to have passed cycle-by-cycle verification. Its performance specifications were described as comparable to Intel’s 4004 processor released in 1971.

The on-chain CPU was named Behemoth. It has already successfully run a Fibonacci sequence calculation, outputting 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, and 13.

Runs in sync with BNB Chain block production

According to the developer, the processor’s execution is synchronized with BNB Chain block production, allowing it to complete one cycle every 0.45 seconds. That places its current operating frequency at about 2.22 Hz. The developer described it as 「possibly the slowest CPU in the universe」.

The developer also said the full protocol will be opened in the future, allowing anyone to build their own on-chain processor on top of it. The design is also intended to let processors call one another, making it possible to assemble more complex on-chain computing systems in a modular way.

CZ questioned its practical use

When asked about the project’s real-world application scenario, Binance co-founder CZ replied, 「What is the use case?」 His comment sparked discussion in the community.
