The Cardano Foundation said it has spun out its digital identity project, Veridian, into an independent company and tokenized its shares using Cardano’s newly introduced programmable token standard, CIP-0113. According to the announcement cited by CoinDesk, Veridian is the first company to use the Cardano programmable token standard for equity tokenization. Cardano Foundation CEO and Veridian Chairman Frederik Gregaard said the company has issued 1 million shares in total, with most of them already tokenized. Those tokenized shares, however, are not being sold to the public at this stage. Veridian is headquartered in Switzerland and focuses on digital identity verification tools for governments, enterprises, and AI agents, helping users prove identity and verify online activity. The company is led by blockchain engineer Thomas A. Mayfield, who previously worked on decentralized trust and identity solutions at the Cardano Foundation. Veridian also plans to seek strategic investors in 2027.

For now, those tokenized shares are not being offered for public sale.

Based in Switzerland, Veridian builds digital identity verification tools for governments, enterprises, and AI agents. The idea is simple: help users prove who they are and verify behavior online. The company is run by blockchain engineer Thomas A. Mayfield, who previously led decentralized trust and identity solutions at the Cardano Foundation.
