Celestia Labs said it has acquired Sovereign Labs, a developer of high-performance blockchain frameworks, in a move that broadens its reach beyond Layer 1 infrastructure. Sovereign Labs has been building within the Celestia ecosystem since 2021, and its framework has already supported projects including the cross-chain bridge Relay Protocol and the high-performance perpetuals exchange Bullet. Following the acquisition, Sovereign Labs co-founder Preston Evans will become chief technology officer at Celestia Labs. The company said the deal extends its capabilities from Layer 1 into the execution and application layers, positioning it as a full-stack partner for enterprises building custom blockchains. Celestia Labs added that demand for full-stack blockchain infrastructure is rising as projects such as Hyperliquid, Polymarket, and Robinhood choose to build their own chains, and said the acquisition is intended to address that gap in the market.
