Chainlink said it has entered a strategic partnership with Bottomline, a Swift service provider, to link existing payment infrastructure with both public and private blockchains. Under the arrangement, Chainlink will supply the interoperability and orchestration layer for the integration. Its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, or CCIP, will handle the secure cross-chain transfer of tokenized value, while the Chainlink Runtime Environment, or CRE, will coordinate payment workflows end to end. The setup is designed so that Bottomline’s banking customers can keep using the ISO 20022 messaging standard they already rely on, while gaining access to on-chain payment rails through a single, network-agnostic connection. The announcement frames the collaboration as a way to bridge established financial messaging systems with blockchain-based payment channels without requiring banks to replace their current messaging format.
