Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said many governments still mistakenly view cryptocurrencies as a threat to their sovereign currencies, arguing instead that issuing national stablecoins could broaden the global circulation of those currencies. Speaking during a Q&A session at the "Binance Life Sharing Session," Zhao said this shift in understanding would take time and require continued education, communication, and influence. He also said that because many people still fear digital assets, he had expected the industry to advance through a "rural areas surrounding cities" path — first winning support from smaller countries, then gradually influencing larger economies. What he did not expect, Zhao said, was for the United States to suddenly become so friendly toward crypto. He described that shift as a major positive for digital assets and said market moves over the past week had already reflected it. Zhao added that while large countries carry greater influence individually, smaller countries together also represent meaningful scale.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said many countries see cryptocurrencies as a threat to their sovereign currencies, but called that view a misunderstanding.

Speaking during a live Q&A session at the "Binance Life Sharing Session," Zhao said countries should issue their own stablecoins now. Once issued, he said, those stablecoins could actually help their sovereign currencies circulate more widely around the world. He added that changing this perception would take time and require "gradual education, gradual influence, and gradual communication."

Zhao also said that because many people still fear digital currencies, he had originally expected the industry to move forward through a "rural areas surrounding cities" approach — first persuading smaller countries to open up, then gradually influencing larger countries.

What he did not anticipate, he said, was that the United States would suddenly become so friendly toward crypto. Zhao described that as a major positive for digital currencies and said market action over the past week had already shown it.

He added that while large countries clearly have greater influence, smaller countries together also account for a meaningful share of the overall scale.
