China and the United States are in discussions over a reciprocal tariff-cut framework covering $30 billion, according to Xinhua. Speaking at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s regular press briefing on Sept. 10, ministry spokesperson Huang Ling said the two sides’ economic and trade teams are implementing the consensus reached during the two heads of state’s meeting in Beijing. She said the two countries are now consulting on arrangements for the tariff-reduction framework and are working to put it into effect as soon as possible. The remarks were made in response to a question at the briefing.
