July 21: Zcash Ironwood mainnet activation expected
Zcash developer Sean Bowe wrote on X that the Ironwood upgrade has made major progress. All consensus rule changes have been implemented, the work is now in the audit stage, and the related specifications and ZIP files have been published and are close to final form. He said the mainnet activation height will be announced soon, with activation expected around July 21.
Bowe added that official testnet activation is planned for the following day and that a Zebra client support release is expected the same day. He said timely and secure activation of Ironwood on the Zcash mainnet is important for users, and that the team is also conducting formal verification work to make sure there is no supply integrity risk.
He also said existing hash power already shows the network is technically ready. The main issue, in his view, is that some wallets may not complete upgrade preparations in time, but that this is not enough to justify a delay given the available alternatives and testnet time.

Timing not fixed: CLARITY Act expected in the U.S. Senate
Beyond the dated items, the CLARITY Act remains one of the main policy developments to watch next week. Odaily said the bill, which would provide a regulatory framework for the digital asset industry, is still facing unresolved bipartisan negotiations on issues including ethics rules for government officials and illicit finance.
If the bill fails to move forward before the August recess, there will be little to no time left before the midterm elections, which could send the legislative process back to the starting point. Republican leadership is currently aiming to bring the measure to the full Senate during the week of July 20, but passage would require support from at least seven Democratic senators.
