CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index has climbed to 64 from 48 a week earlier, signaling stronger rotation across the altcoin market, though it still remains below the 75 threshold commonly used to confirm a full altcoin season. Over the past 30 days, several tokens posted sharp gains: PONS rose more than 350%, UNI gained over 110%, ARB advanced more than 150%, and NEAR added about 180%, while ZEC briefly moved above $1,600 last week. Talos data also points to a more concentrated market structure, with the 10 largest altcoins now accounting for about 80% of the total altcoin market cap, up from roughly 70% at the end of 2024. According to Bankless host David Hoffman, strong recent performers such as ARB, UNI, JUP, and ONDO share a common trait: they generate revenue. Talos international markets head Samar Sen said capital is now focusing on yield-bearing protocols, on-chain perpetuals, and DeFi projects, while privacy, AI, tokenized assets, and meme coins are also drawing attention. He described current participation as increasingly selective, with investors allocating around specific narratives and ecosystems rather than trading altcoins as a single group.

The altcoin market has been showing clearer signs of rotation, with capital moving away from purely speculative trades and toward projects with actual revenue and real-world use cases.

Over the past 30 days, PONS has gained more than 350%, UNI has risen more than 110%, ARB has advanced more than 150%, and NEAR is up about 180%. ZEC also briefly traded above $1,600 last week.

Altcoin Season Index moves up to 64

Data from CoinMarketCap shows the Altcoin Season Index now stands at 64, up from 48 a week ago. Even so, it remains below the 75 level generally used to confirm an altcoin season.

Market cap concentration keeps rising

Talos data shows the 10 largest altcoins by market value now make up about 80% of the total altcoin market capitalization. That is up from about 70% at the end of 2024, pointing to a further concentration of capital in larger names.

Revenue-generating tokens stand out

Bankless host David Hoffman said tokens such as ARB, UNI, JUP, and ONDO, which have been among the stronger recent performers, share one thing in common: they generate revenue.

Samar Sen, head of international markets at Talos, said capital is currently concentrated in yield-bearing protocols, on-chain perpetuals, and DeFi projects. He added that privacy, AI, tokenized assets, and meme coin sectors are also drawing attention.

Sen said the market is now showing a "more selective" participation pattern, with investors allocating capital around specific narratives and ecosystems instead of trading altcoins as one unified segment.
