Cobie responded to community remarks about his move after what was described as a $400 million cash-out from Coinbase, saying he is now in charge of trading products across Coinbase, including the Coinbase app, Pro and Base app. In his post, he said he chose a more stressful and busy life over doing nothing, adding that he would rather try to build something genuinely good than spend time playing Factorio. He also addressed complaints tied to Base app, telling users to point out what is broken and saying they would be free to criticize him if it is not fixed within one month. His comments indicate that visible progress could come over the next month.

Odaily reported that Cobie responded to a community comment that said, “People thought Cobie cashed out $400 million from Coinbase, but it turns out he is working for billionaires for free.”

In his reply, Cobie said he had decided that instead of relaxing and doing nothing, he would make his life “super stressful and busy,” and that he is now responsible for trading products at Coinbase, including the Coinbase app, Pro and Base app, among others.

He wrote that he could not really explain why he made that choice, other than that he would rather have a chance to build something genuinely good than play Factorio. “So maybe I’m an idiot, we’ll see,” he added.

Cobie then followed up with another comment aimed at people asking him to fix things, an apparent reference to taking over Base app. He said that if people want him to fix something, they only need to tell him what is broken, and if it is not fixed within one month, “then you can curse me.”

Based on his wording, the market may see whether those changes deliver visible results within a month.
