Greeks.live researcher Adam said in a post on X that Deribit has recently been rolling out updates more than once a week, with spot liquidity already merged into Coinbase and most reserve assets now custodied there. He said those changes are part of the preparation for a planned Sept. 9 integration.
According to Adam, the move goes beyond a brand combination. Coinbase’s spot market, global user base and institutional setup are expected to be integrated with Deribit’s options business, derivatives liquidity and trading infrastructure. For traders, that would bring together product lines that had previously been split across different venues.
If completed as described, Coinbase would place spot, perpetuals, options and futures within a single trading system. Adam also said the derivatives layer will run on a next-generation matching engine, while liquidity that had been scattered across separate venues will be combined.
Odaily reported that Adam from Greeks.live said in a post on X that Deribit has been making updates more than once a week in recent weeks, with spot liquidity already merged into Coinbase and most reserve assets now held in custody at Coinbase. He said those arrangements are being put in place ahead of a planned Sept. 9 integration.
Adam said Coinbase may deserve more attention than many expect because the deal is not simply a brand integration. In his description, Coinbase’s spot business, global user base and institutional framework will be combined with Deribit’s options franchise, derivatives liquidity and trading infrastructure.
For traders, spot, perpetuals and options had previously been spread across different platforms. After the integration, Coinbase would bring spot, perpetuals, options and futures into the same trading system. Adam also said the derivatives layer will use a next-generation matching engine and combine liquidity that had previously been fragmented.
