Coinbase Markets said in a post on X that roughly $16 billion in Bitcoin options expired last Friday, and that Ethereum’s short-dated options were sharply repriced after the third-quarter expiry. The move was concentrated at the front end of the curve rather than in longer maturities. According to Coinbase Markets, implied volatility for 7-day at-the-money options jumped by nearly 10 volatility points, while longer-dated volatility stayed relatively stable. At the same time, the 7-day 25-delta skew turned positive, meaning call options were trading at a premium to puts. The desk said the repricing was focused on the short end and that demand was leaning to the upside. The comments were attributed to the Coinbase Markets account on X, as cited by Techub News.
