Coinbase has expanded stock trading to users across the United States, moving beyond the limited rollout it began in December 2025. The platform now offers access to more than 8,000 stocks and ETFs, with trading available 24 hours a day, five days a week. Eligible users can buy fractional shares starting at $1, and accounts may be funded with either U.S. dollars or USDC. Coinbase said stock and ETF trading is commission-free, though some transaction fees still apply.

More than 8,000 stocks and ETFs now available nationwide

The broader launch builds on Coinbase’s initial release from December 2025, when only several hundred stocks were introduced. The company said the product set is designed to resemble traditional retail brokerage tools. That puts Coinbase in more direct competition with platforms such as Robinhood as it continues pursuing its goal of becoming a venue for trading multiple asset classes, not only crypto.

Yahoo Finance adds a direct “Trade on Coinbase” path

Alongside the national rollout, Coinbase announced a partnership with Yahoo Finance. Under the agreement, Yahoo Finance pages will include a “Trade on Coinbase” button, allowing users to move from market research to trade execution in a single step. Mark Troianovski, Coinbase’s head of consumer business development, confirmed the partnership but did not disclose financial terms. Yahoo Finance says it draws more than 150 million monthly global visitors.

Yahoo Finance users will also receive a one-month trial of Coinbase One Basic. Yahoo Finance executive George Leimer said the integration reflects rising interest in holding crypto alongside traditional assets.

Expansion comes after a $667 million quarterly net loss

The stock push arrives shortly after Coinbase reported weaker quarterly results. Earlier this month, the company posted a $667 million net loss for the fourth quarter. Revenue fell 5% from the previous quarter to $1.8 billion, while both transaction revenue and subscription revenue declined over the same period. Company executives said this week that broadening services beyond crypto is part of the current strategy.

Coinbase also said it plans to introduce tokenized stocks in the coming months and expand stock perpetuals internationally through Coinbase Bermuda. Those products will not be available to U.S. users and remain subject to regulatory approval. The company added that Apex Fintech Solutions handles clearing, custody, and trade execution for the stock offering.
