Coinbase said USDC will become the default U.S. dollar stablecoin for Samsung Wallet users in the United States starting in the last week of October 2026, expanding the companies’ existing partnership. Once the change goes live, USDC will automatically appear as the default option when users add stablecoin balances inside Samsung Wallet. Coinbase also said the assets tied to the arrangement will be custodied through Coinbase Prime, using qualified custody services that meet requirements set by the New York State Department of Financial Services, or NYDFS. The partnership will also involve Bastion, a U.S. provider of stablecoin infrastructure. Coinbase said the move is intended to widen USDC’s use cases in consumer-facing digital wallets.
