The wallet includes a browser for decentralized apps. Opening a dApp triggers a connection request; some apps connect instantly while others require reconnecting after a network switch. Token swaps are powered by integrated liquidity providers. Entering an amount shows estimated output and network fees. Users must hold native tokens (e.g., ETH) to cover gas on the respective chain.
Fee Structure: Network Fees Plus Add-on Costs
Coinbase Wallet charges no fixed platform fee for holding crypto. Costs come from network activity (gas) and, for features linked to Coinbase infrastructure (on-ramp, DEX routing), additional spread and service fees apply. Bitcoin Lightning Network transfers carry a 0.2% fee; USDT withdrawals incur 0.01% (capped at 20 USDT); large USDC conversions above a threshold face 0.10%. These sit atop network fees.
Security and User Responsibility
Private keys are stored locally with biometric lock and encrypted storage support. Every transaction requires manual approval, reducing automated access risk. However, all responsibility falls on the user. If the recovery phrase is lost or exposed, access cannot be restored.
