ChainCatcher reported, citing Coinglass data, that total liquidations across the crypto market reached $178 million over the past 24 hours. Long liquidations stood at $57.3395 million, while short liquidations totaled $121 million. Based on the reported figures, short liquidations were larger than long liquidations during this 24-hour period.
Bitcoin and Ethereum liquidation breakdown
By asset, Bitcoin long liquidations reached $10.8736 million, while Bitcoin short liquidations reached $40.657 million. For Ethereum, long liquidations totaled $12.1028 million, and short liquidations stood at $37.2136 million. In both Bitcoin and Ethereum, short liquidations exceeded long liquidations according to the Coinglass figures.
The data also shows that 69,433 traders worldwide were liquidated in the past 24 hours. The largest single liquidation order occurred on Binance - BTCUSDT, with a value of $3.435 million. Liquidation generally refers to the forced closure of a leveraged position when margin requirements are no longer met, and the figures above reflect Coinglass’s 24-hour liquidation statistics.
