Coreweave, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRWV), a leading AI cloud infrastructure provider, has signed a multi-year agreement with Anthropic to support the development and deployment of Anthropic's Claude family of artificial intelligence models. The deal, announced Friday, will bring compute capacity online in a phased rollout starting later in 2025, with the potential to scale over time. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Anthropic Joins Coreweave's Elite Client Roster

Anthropic, founded in 2021 and headquartered in San Francisco, is one of the premier AI research companies in the United States. Its Claude models directly compete with offerings from OpenAI and Google. The company has been expanding its infrastructure partnerships as demand for its models grows across developers, startups, and enterprise customers. By choosing Coreweave, Anthropic gains access to a GPU-accelerated cloud platform designed specifically for large-scale AI workloads—covering compute, high-throughput storage, low-latency networking, and managed software tools for both training and inference.

The addition of Anthropic means Coreweave now counts nine of the world’s top 10 AI model providers as clients. This milestone reflects the company's aggressive push to diversify its customer base, which already includes Microsoft, OpenAI, and Meta. OpenAI holds a contract valued at over $12 billion, while Meta signed an expanded infrastructure agreement worth $21 billion. Historically, Microsoft has accounted for more than 60% of Coreweave's revenue, but the company has been working to reduce that concentration.

“We’re excited to work with Anthropic at the center of where models are put to work and performance in production shows up,” said Michael Intrator, co-founder, CEO, and chairman of Coreweave. “It’s exactly the kind of real-world deployment of AI that Coreweave was built for.”

From Crypto Mining to AI Cloud Giant

Coreweave’s journey began in 2017 as Atlantic Crypto, an Ethereum mining operation. After the 2018–2019 crypto market downturn, the company pivoted its GPU inventory toward rendering and machine learning workloads, rebranded to Coreweave, and fully transitioned into AI cloud infrastructure as generative AI demand accelerated.

On March 28, 2025, Coreweave went public on the Nasdaq, raising approximately $1.5 billion in one of the largest AI-related IPOs to date. The company posted $5.13 billion in revenue for full-year 2025 and carries a revenue backlog of $66.8 billion. It projects revenue of $12 billion to $13 billion for 2026.

Massive Capex and Deep Ties with Nvidia

To meet surging demand, Coreweave plans capital expenditure of $30 billion to $35 billion in 2026, targeting a revenue run-rate above $30 billion by the end of 2027. The company currently operates 32 to 43 data centers across the United States and Europe, equipped with hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs. Coreweave has set a power capacity target of 1.7 gigawatts by the end of 2026, with a longer-term goal of multi-gigawatt expansion in partnership with Nvidia by 2030.

Nvidia holds a strategic investment in Coreweave and committed an additional $2 billion in 2026. Nvidia's GPUs—including the H100, H200, and Blackwell series GB200 NVL72—form the compute backbone of Coreweave's offerings. The company also holds the top Platinum ranking in both Semianalysis ClusterMAX 1.0 and 2.0, which evaluate AI cloud performance, efficiency, and reliability, and leads the MLPerf benchmark for AI workloads.

AI Cloud Competition Heats Up

The agreement with Anthropic underscores the intensifying race among cloud providers to capture the massive workloads generated by leading AI labs. With its crypto-mining heritage and close partnership with Nvidia, Coreweave has carved out a niche as a hyperspecialized platform, offering performance advantages that generalist cloud giants like AWS, Azure, and GCP may struggle to match for pure AI training and inference. As the generative AI boom enters the deployment phase, Coreweave is well-positioned to continue winning multi-billion-dollar contracts from the world's most demanding AI companies.
