Crypto.com founder and CEO Kris Marszalek has acquired AI.com for $70 million and relaunched the domain as a consumer platform for autonomous personal AI agents, with the rollout tied to a Super Bowl LX advertising campaign. The purchase, paid entirely in cryptocurrency, was described in the report as the highest-priced domain acquisition on record.

AI.com now offers users private AI agents that come with their own virtual computers. These agents are designed to use apps and handle tasks such as sending messages, managing workflows, building projects, and even trading stocks. The platform includes both free access and paid subscription tiers.

Standalone launch replaces years of redirects

Before this relaunch, AI.com had spent years redirecting visitors to major AI products and companies. At different points, the domain sent traffic to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Elon Musk’s xAI, Google’s Gemini, and briefly to Chinese startup DeepSeek. Its latest version turns that high-profile domain from a traffic funnel into a standalone consumer AI product.

According to the report, the $70 million deal was brokered by Larry Fischer, who told the Financial Times that assets such as AI.com are effectively irreplaceable. He said that when one becomes available, the opportunity may not appear again. The report added that the sale surpassed earlier headline domain deals, including CarInsurance.com at $49.7 million in 2010, VacationRentals.com at $35 million, and Voice.com at $30 million.

Marszalek extends a familiar branding strategy

Marszalek framed the acquisition as a long-term bet on artificial intelligence, saying AI will be one of the biggest technological waves of this lifetime, according to the report. The move also fits Crypto.com’s history of large branding spends. The article noted that the company previously spent about $700 million on stadium naming rights and now controls two category-defining internet domains: Crypto.com and AI.com.

The report also noted that while the .ai extension is technically Anguilla’s country-code domain, it has become closely associated with artificial intelligence worldwide. That gives AI.com value both as a functioning product platform and as a symbolic asset in the competition for consumer AI attention.
