Crypto hiring picked up sharply in September, according to data cited by ChainCatcher from crypto recruiting platform CryptoJobsList. The number of job openings posted by cryptocurrency companies climbed to 1,241 in September, up from 382 in July and 886 in August. The September figure also exceeded January’s 573 openings, which had previously been the busiest month of the year. The number of companies posting jobs also increased, reaching 125 in September, compared with 107 in July and 77 in August. CryptoJobsList said the rebound fits a seasonal pattern in which business activity returns after the summer slowdown in the Northern Hemisphere. At the same time, the platform said seasonality does not fully explain the move, noting that openings had already doubled from July to August and that no similar August-to-September surge appeared in the same period of 2025. Applications moved in the opposite direction. They fell from 25,700 in July to 24,631 in August, then dropped to below 20,000 in September. CryptoJobsList interpreted the gap between rising job postings and falling applications as a sign that competition for specialized talent is tightening.

Crypto job postings rose to 1,241 in September from 382 in July, extending an increase from 886 in August, according to data from crypto recruiting platform CryptoJobsList cited by ChainCatcher. The September total also topped January’s 573 openings, which had previously been the busiest month of the year.

Hiring companies also increased

The number of companies that posted openings reached 125 in September. That compared with 107 in July, before dropping to 77 in August.

CryptoJobsList said the September hiring rebound matched a seasonal pattern in which business activity returns to normal after the Northern Hemisphere’s summer lull. Still, the platform said seasonality was not the full explanation. Openings had already doubled in August from July, while the same period in 2025 did not show a similar jump from August to September. In that year, even October, the busiest month, recorded only 373 openings, and the figures from July through September were largely flat.

Applications fell as openings rose

Applications moved the other way. They declined from 25,700 in July to 24,631 in August, then fell to below 20,000 in September. CryptoJobsList interpreted that divergence as a sign of tighter competition for specialized talent.

Top hiring categories and blockchain skills

Over the past three months, finance was the largest hiring category, followed by engineering and trading. Stablecoins, AI, security, and compliance also ranked in the top 10.

Among blockchain-related skills, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana were the most frequently requested, in that order.
