Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, said at the Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference on Aug. 27 that tokenized real-world assets are beneficial to Bitcoin and to the broader crypto sector. He argued that the flow works in both directions: people who first learn about Bitcoin may later explore other blockchains and tokens, while users who enter through tokenized equities may eventually gain exposure to Bitcoin. CZ used Asian access to U.S. stocks as an example. Speaking from Hong Kong, he said it is very difficult for Asian investors to open brokerage accounts to trade U.S. equities. Even for those who can open a U.S. brokerage account, he said trading hours are inconvenient, describing the session as roughly 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. local time. In his view, stock tokenization makes access to equity markets more democratic by allowing people who previously wanted to buy U.S. stocks, but could not, to participate through crypto platforms. Because those users come in through crypto rails, CZ said they may end up getting Bitcoin exposure they did not have before. Over time, he added, that effect can accumulate. He also said the benefits are not limited to crypto, arguing that what helps tokenized stocks can also help traditional equity markets.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, or CZ, said on Aug. 27 at the Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference that tokenized real-world assets, or RWA, are ultimately positive for Bitcoin and for the wider crypto industry.

「Tokenized assets are good for Bitcoin, and they are good for the whole industry. People who understand Bitcoin will eventually go on to learn about other blockchains and other tokens. And people who come in through tokenized stocks will eventually also see Bitcoin,」 CZ said.

Tokenized stocks can lower access barriers

CZ pointed to Asian investors trying to buy U.S. stocks as an example. Speaking in Hong Kong, he said it is very difficult for Asians to open a brokerage account to purchase U.S. equities. Even among the small number of people who are able to get a U.S. brokerage account, trading hours are still inconvenient. He said the U.S. stock market trades at roughly 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

In his view, tokenization makes access to the stock market more democratic. People who previously wanted to buy U.S. stocks but could not do so may now be able to purchase them in tokenized form.

Crypto platform entry may lead to Bitcoin exposure

He added that these users are entering through crypto platforms. Once on those platforms, they may gain Bitcoin exposure that they did not have before. Over time, he said, that effect can continue to build.

CZ said, 「So things that are good for tokenized stocks are actually also good for the traditional stock market, and also good for Bitcoin. I think all of these things reinforce each other. The entire ecosystem is not a competitive relationship where one project is up against another project.」
