DeFiLlama founder 0xngmi said on Aug. 15 that the team had spent months trying to get Apple to remove a fake app impersonating DeFiLlama from the App Store. According to his post on social media, the team repeatedly reported the app to Apple over trademark infringement and for posing as the official product, but those reports did not lead to a takedown. The situation changed after DeFiLlama funded a small wallet, downloaded the app, and saw the wallet drained, as expected. The team then reported that theft to Apple. 0xngmi said the app was removed within days after Apple received the report. He added that he wanted other crypto companies to know about the experience so they would not waste time in the same way.

BlockBeats reported on Aug. 15 that DeFiLlama founder 0xngmi said in a social media post that his team had spent months trying to get Apple to remove a fake DeFiLlama app from the App Store.

According to 0xngmi, the team had repeatedly flagged the app to Apple for trademark infringement and for impersonating the official DeFiLlama app, but those reports did not produce a result.

He said the team then funded a small wallet and downloaded the app. The wallet was fully drained, which he said was what they expected would happen. After that, the team reported the theft to Apple.

0xngmi said Apple removed the app within days of that report. He added that he hoped other crypto companies would learn from the experience so they would not waste time in the same way.
