Crypto and fintech investment firm Deus X Capital has ceased operations and is set to formally liquidate on Jan. 31, 2027, according to ChainCatcher. The firm’s backers will split into separate investment tracks, marking a broader restructuring of the Morton family’s investment activities. Chief Investment Officer Stuart Connolly will stay on to manage the transition, while some portfolio companies will continue operating with participation from existing shareholders. Tim Grant, the former Galaxy Digital executive who led Deus X Capital, is moving to become CEO of TensorX, an AI business owned by Darius, the new artificial intelligence-focused venture being assembled by Shane Morton. Owen and Jason Morton, meanwhile, have launched 95, a separate vehicle focused on markets and fintech. Deus X Capital was founded in October 2023 with family office backing and launched with $1 billion in existing investments and deployable capital. Its strategy spanned private equity, venture capital and hedge fund allocations across digital assets, blockchain, fintech and institutional capital markets. Early investments included stakes in Galaxy Digital and asset manager Hilbert Group, and the firm operated in Malta, London and the UAE.

Morton family investment activities are being split

The Morton family investors behind Deus X Capital are separating their investment operations. Shane Morton is building Darius, a venture focused on artificial intelligence. Owen Morton and Jason Morton have launched 95, which is focused on markets and fintech.

Grant will become chief executive of TensorX, an AI business owned by Darius under Shane Morton. Grant said he hopes to become a significant participant in Europe’s AI sector.

Deus X Capital launched in October 2023

Deus X Capital was founded in October 2023 with backing from a family office. At launch, it had $1 billion in existing investments and deployable capital. Its strategy covered private equity, venture capital and hedge fund allocations across digital assets, blockchain, fintech and institutional capital markets.

Its early investments included stakes in Galaxy Digital and asset management firm Hilbert Group. The company also had operations in Malta, London and the UAE.
