ChainCatcher reported that, according to monitoring by Galaxy Research (@glxyresearch), a Bitcoin address that had not moved since October 15, 2014 has carried out an on-chain transfer after remaining dormant for 11.7 years. The transaction took place in the early hours Beijing time, corresponding to 18:07 UTC, and was included in Bitcoin block 953816.
The monitored data shows that the address transferred a total of 100.5 BTC. Based on the valuation cited in the report, the amount was worth approximately $6.59 million at the time of disclosure. Because the address had seen no movement since October 15, 2014, the transaction is categorized as activity from a long-dormant Bitcoin address, with the key known details being the transfer amount, timestamp and block height.
The input report did not provide the receiving address, the subsequent use of the funds, or the identity of the party controlling the address. The confirmed information is limited to Galaxy Research’s monitoring result: an address dormant for 11.7 years moved 100.5 BTC in block 953816.
