European credit management firm doValue and fintech company Weltix have completed what was described as the first blockchain-based digital securities issuance tied to a non-performing loan, or NPL, securitization, with a deal size of €10 million. The transaction was carried out under Italy’s Fintech Decree regulatory framework. Weltix handled the DLT registry, while doValue was responsible for the overall transaction structure. The report stressed that the issuance did not turn non-performing loans into a speculative cryptocurrency product.
