Avalanche founder Emin Gün Sirer said in a recent post on X that artificial intelligence may eventually uncover previously unknown security flaws in blockchain systems such as the XRP Ledger. In his view, the crypto industry should pay closer attention to the risk of AI-driven attacks that exploit software bugs, rather than focusing only on the possibility of breakthroughs against cryptography itself.
Sirer said more advanced AI models could identify mistakes in blockchain software, libraries, and crypto wallets that are difficult for humans to detect. He warned that attackers might use those weaknesses to steal billions of dollars before AI is capable of breaking widely used cryptographic systems.
At the same time, Sirer did not point to any specific unpatched vulnerability in the XRP Ledger, nor did he show how AI could be used to attack the network. The report cited U.Today as the source of the remarks.
Avalanche founder Emin Gün Sirer said in a recent post on X that AI could eventually discover previously unknown security vulnerabilities in blockchain systems including the XRP Ledger.
He said the industry should be more concerned about the risk of AI being used to exploit software flaws than about a potential cryptographic breakthrough.
Sirer added that more capable AI models may be able to find errors in blockchain software, libraries, and crypto wallets that humans struggle to detect. In that case, attackers could use those flaws to steal billions of dollars before AI is able to break widely used cryptography.
He did not, however, identify any specific unpatched vulnerability in the XRP Ledger or demonstrate how AI could attack the network.
