The Ethereum Foundation said on Sept. 7 that its Protocol Cluster has published two new posts offering a structured review of Hegotá, the network’s next upgrade. One of the posts, titled “Hegotá EIP Opinion Post and Tier List,” evaluates and ranks 62 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals, marking the first time the team has issued a unified EIP rating list for a single upgrade. According to the foundation, around 60 researchers, engineers, and domain experts from nine teams within the Protocol Cluster took part in the review process. They submitted 397 rating opinions and held live discussions on disputed proposals. A companion post maps out the Ethereum protocol layer’s current and future priorities. Among the goals listed, one stands out: pushing Ethereum L1 to achieve quantum resistance by December 2029. The foundation said those upgrade plans, long-term commitments, and shared cluster-wide priorities serve as the backdrop for deciding the final scope of Hegotá and the EIP rankings. Protocol Cluster is also scheduled to host an AMA on Reddit’s r/ethereum community at 14:00 UTC on Sept. 16 to discuss the Hegotá EIP ratings and broader protocol priorities.

On Sept. 7, the Ethereum Foundation said its Protocol Cluster had published two new posts that systematically assess Hegotá, the network’s next upgrade.

One of them, titled Hegotá EIP Opinion Post and Tier List, evaluates and ranks 62 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals, or EIPs. The foundation said this is the first time the team has released a unified EIP rating list tied to a single network upgrade.

According to the Ethereum Foundation, roughly 60 researchers, engineers, and domain experts from nine teams under the Protocol Cluster participated in the review. In total, they submitted 397 rating opinions and held live discussions on proposals that drew disagreement.

A companion post lays out the Ethereum protocol layer’s current and future focus areas. One core goal in that roadmap is to push Ethereum L1 to achieve quantum resistance by December 2029.

The Ethereum Foundation said those upgrade plans, long-term commitments, and cluster-wide shared priorities provide the background for determining Hegotá’s final scope and the EIP rankings.

Protocol Cluster will also hold an AMA in Reddit’s r/ethereum community at 14:00 UTC on Sept. 16, where discussion will center on the Hegotá EIP ratings and key protocol development priorities.
