The Ethereum Foundation said the Glamsterdam network upgrade will go live on the Sepolia testnet at 21:53:36 Beijing time on Oct. 6, 2026, at epoch 353,024 and slot 11,296,768. The upgrade combines the Amsterdam execution-layer changes with the Gloas consensus-layer changes. Its headline items include enshrined proposer-builder separation, or ePBS, under EIP-7732; block-level access lists, or BALs, under EIP-7928; and gas pricing changes tied to EIP-8037, EIP-8038 and related proposals to better reflect execution costs and state growth. The Foundation said activation dates for Hoodi and Ethereum mainnet have not been set. It also said node operators need to update both execution-layer and consensus-layer clients before activation, while mainnet users and ETH holders do not need to take any action for now. Client releases are being published, and the full compatibility list is available in the official announcement.
According to BlockBeats, the Ethereum Foundation said on Sept. 29 that the Glamsterdam network upgrade will be activated on the Sepolia testnet at 21:53:36 Beijing time on Oct. 6, 2026, at epoch 353,024 and slot 11,296,768.
Upgrade combines Amsterdam and Gloas changes
The upgrade brings together Amsterdam on the execution layer and Gloas on the consensus layer. The Foundation said the main changes include enshrined proposer-builder separation, or ePBS, under EIP-7732, which formally brings block proposing and block building into the protocol; block-level access lists, or BALs, under EIP-7928, which support parallel state reads and transaction validation; and gas pricing adjustments under proposals including EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 to more accurately reflect execution costs and the cost of state growth.
Hoodi and mainnet dates are still undecided
The activation schedule for Hoodi and Ethereum mainnet has not been determined. The Foundation said related client versions have been released on a rolling basis, and the detailed compatibility list is available in the official announcement.
Node operators need to update clients before activation
Node operators are required to update both execution-layer and consensus-layer clients before the Sepolia activation. The Foundation added that mainnet users and ETH holders do not need to take any action at this stage.
