Testnet Glamsterdam Devnet-6 Goes Live
Ethereum core developer Terence confirmed on X that Ethereum Glamsterdam devnet-6 has been released. This testnet version represents a key milestone towards Ethereum's next major upgrade (Pectra or a subsequent fork), with substantial progress in testnet advancement.
EIP-8282 and ePBS Builder Execution Requests
The most critical improvement in this release is EIP-8282, which introduces builder execution requests for ePBS (Ethereum Proposer-Builder Separation). The EIP includes two new system contracts designed to optimize the interaction between block builders and proposers, further enhancing network efficiency and decentralization.
Batch Execution Layer EIP Adjustments
On the execution layer, based on work from post-bal-devnet-7, several new EIPs were added: EIP-2780 (gas metering adjustments), EIP-8038 (repricing), EIP-7997, EIP-8246, and EIP-8070 (as optional). Concurrently, modifications were made to EIP-7954 (limit set to 64 KiB), EIP-8037 (source-based refund mechanism), and EIP-7928 (BAL×7702 prewarming logic maintained as status quo). These adjustments aim to fine-tune the network's economic model and execution performance.
