Glamsterdam targets a major capacity increase
Ethereum’s upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade is expected to raise the network gas limit from 60 million to 200 million, expanding execution capacity by more than 300%. The change would give the network significantly more room to process transactions and smart contract activity, reinforcing Ethereum’s broader scalability roadmap.
The upgrade also includes improvements such as proposer-builder separation and gas repricing adjustments, both aimed at improving efficiency and network stability. In practice, these changes could help reduce congestion and support lower transaction costs under certain conditions, potentially making Ethereum more appealing to users and developers.
Better infrastructure does not guarantee a price surge
Even so, the report stresses that stronger infrastructure alone is not enough to send ETH directly to $6,000. Ethereum is currently trading at around $2,363, and a move to substantially higher valuations would still require stronger user growth, higher on-chain activity, and fresh capital entering the ecosystem.
Historical patterns suggest that crypto price rallies tend to track adoption growth more closely than technical upgrades by themselves. In other words, Glamsterdam may improve Ethereum’s operating conditions and long-term competitiveness, but market valuation will still depend on whether those upgrades translate into real demand.
Overall, the planned upgrade highlights Ethereum’s continued focus on scaling and execution efficiency. For investors and industry observers, it is best viewed as an important structural improvement rather than a standalone catalyst for an immediate price breakout.
