Binance received a $511 million Ethereum deposit on May 6, totaling 216,152 ETH, the largest single inflow among several spikes in early May. Two days later, another 98,552 ETH (valued at $224 million) landed on the exchange, followed by 125,146 ETH ($288 million) on May 9. According to analyst Darkfost, these transfers coincided with corrective phases in Ethereum's price, not with rallies.
$511M Ethereum Flood Into Binance in Early May
Darkfost tracked multiple hourly inflows during the first week of May, noting that the biggest transaction occurred on May 6. He characterized the behavior as emotion-driven selling rather than organized profit-taking. Throughout the period, Ethereum remained locked in a sideways range between $2,250 and $2,450.
Binance ETH Reserves Rise Alongside Inflows
As the deposits accumulated, Binance's ETH balance climbed to 3.62 million ETH, representing roughly 24.6% of all exchange-held Ethereum. The rising reserve level has coincided with a prolonged consolidation trend over recent weeks. Large holders keep moving ETH toward exchanges despite slightly improved price stability compared to February's wild swings. The built-up supply adds overhead pressure on the market.
Price Consolidation and Technical Stalemate
Earlier this year, Ethereum plunged from above $2,850 to nearly $1,820, triggering massive volume and liquidations. A bearish death cross formed in February when the 50-day moving average crossed below the 200-day average. Since then, ETH stabilized between $1,950 and $2,300, and the 50-day MA flattened and turned upward. By May, ETH traded near $2,329, with the 200-day MA around $2,303.
Key resistance sits at $2,588 and $2,850, while support stands near $2,064 and $1,820. Trading volumes have normalized from February's spike. Whether ETH can reclaim bullish structure above the 200-day MA and push through resistance will determine the next leg.
