According to BlockBeats, the transition period for the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation is set to conclude on July 1, 2026. MiCA, which took effect in 2023, granted the industry an 18-month adjustment window that is now rapidly expiring. As the EU's first comprehensive regulatory framework covering crypto-asset issuance, trading, and custody, it mandates that all service providers targeting EU clients must obtain authorization from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). ESMA has stressed that once the transition period ends, any provider without authorization—even if their application is still under review—must immediately cease offering crypto-asset services to EU clients and begin business wind-down and client migration procedures. This measure aims to eliminate any regulatory vacuum and ensure market participants operate within a compliant framework.

At the member-state level, France's Financial Markets Authority (AMF) has warned that continuing to provide unauthorized services could constitute a criminal offense, signaling a tough enforcement stance. German regulators require relevant service providers to complete the authorization process by June 30 at the latest; platforms that fail to obtain authorization by that deadline will be unable to continue serving the German market. However, a significant proportion of European users are still relying on platforms that have not yet obtained MiCA authorization. Once the transition period concludes, both these users and the platforms will face service disruptions and the urgent pressure of asset transfers, making immediate compliance migration essential.
