Speaking at the 'AI × New Finance — Innovation Global Tour: Hong Kong Station and Yangtze River Stars Plan' event, Zhang said models are evolving from chat tools into agents that can complete complex tasks. The next phase, he argued, is AI taking part in its own research, training and inference optimization — a trend he called 'recursive self-improvement,' already visible in some studies. As model capabilities improve, he predicted, AI agents will shift from passive responses to always-on, proactive execution, driving demand for infrastructure such as cloud computing, identity authentication and cybersecurity.
