F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun took to social media on September 8 to recount an incident from six years ago that led him to blacklist the entire Zcash team. According to Wang, a Zcash team member contacted him but repeatedly confused Eastern Standard Time (EST) with Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) during their communication, making it impossible to proceed. In response, he blocked the entire company.
Calling it one of the "best decisions" he has ever made, Wang also drew a sarcastic parallel to a previous BlockFi incident. He noted that BlockFi intended to send $701.4 to a user but mistakenly sent 701.4 BTC instead. "People who can't tell EST from EDT will probably also confuse BTC and USD," he wrote.
Wang further revealed that he was "very happy" to have cleared his ZEC holdings last week, swapping all of them into DOGE.
This is not the first time Wang has criticized the Zcash team. In April 2020, he posted that if the team couldn't understand how daylight saving time works, how could they claim to understand zkSNARKs? He argued that the project hired too many people who lacked a grasp of basic principles, potentially leading to its failure.
