Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol, and SingularityNET have announced plans to combine their respective crypto tokens into a single asset called ASI, short for Artificial Superintelligence. The proposed merger would bring together FET, OCEAN, and AGIX under one unified token structure, creating a shared economic layer for decentralized artificial intelligence development, data exchange, and commercialization.
A major consolidation move in blockchain AI
The announcement marks one of the most significant consolidation efforts in the blockchain AI sector. According to the project teams, the initiative is being driven by three prominent figures in decentralized AI. SingularityNET was founded by Dr. Ben Goertzel, widely known for his work in artificial general intelligence and described in the announcement as the “Father of AGI.” The network was built as a blockchain-based framework and marketplace for AI services.
Fetch.ai was launched by Humayun Sheikh, an early investor in DeepMind, with a focus on building a decentralized platform where AI applications can be created and monetized. Ocean Protocol, meanwhile, was developed with major contributions from Trent McConaghy and is centered on a data exchange system designed to support the trading of tokenized data assets powered by AI technologies.
Market reaction pushed all three tokens higher
Following the news, all three cryptocurrencies recorded double-digit price gains, reflecting strong investor interest in both AI-related tokens and ecosystem consolidation. The rally also came amid broader momentum in the crypto AI segment. As cited in the announcement, the combined valuation of AI-linked crypto assets has been approaching $30 billion, while the sector as a whole has posted a gain of more than 20% over the past week.
The immediate market reaction suggests that traders viewed the merger as more than a branding exercise. Instead, it was interpreted as an attempt to build scale in a fast-growing but fragmented segment of the digital asset market, where infrastructure, data, and AI services are often spread across separate protocols and incentive systems.
ASI aims to unify infrastructure, incentives, and commercialization
According to the teams, the fully diluted valuation of the future ASI token is estimated at about $7.5 billion. That figure places the planned asset among the more substantial projects in the crypto AI category and indicates the scale of ambition behind the merger.
Bruce Pon, CEO and co-founder of Ocean Protocol, said the combination could help fulfill the goal of creating a deeply integrated suite of decentralized technologies capable of competing globally. In his remarks, he described the unified token as the mechanism that can align participants across the network through a common incentive structure.
Pon said the merger of the three technology stacks would create a leader across research and development, applications, and the commercialization of AGI. In that framework, ASI is expected to play several roles at once: securing the public network, acting as a token for data access, and enabling users to unlock computational resources without relying on traditional banking systems or payment rails.
The vision: a native currency for the machine economy
The teams framed ASI not simply as a replacement token, but as a strategic foundation for what they call the machine economy. In practical terms, that means a unified currency intended to support interactions between decentralized AI agents, applications, data markets, and compute resources. Rather than operating through separate tokens with isolated utility, the merged system is designed to create a more coherent economic model across the three ecosystems.
This matters because blockchain-based AI projects often face the challenge of fragmented liquidity, overlapping narratives, and disconnected user incentives. A shared token could, in theory, make coordination easier while helping developers, users, and network participants operate within one aligned framework. The announcement presents ASI as the “glue” that binds these actors together.
While the teams have outlined the strategic rationale, the market will likely focus on how the merger is executed in practice, including token conversion details, governance arrangements, and how utility from the three ecosystems is ultimately integrated. Still, based on the information released so far, the message is clear: the projects want to create a larger, more competitive decentralized AI alliance at a time when investor appetite for AI-related crypto assets remains high.
In the broader context, the ASI proposal reflects a growing effort within crypto to move beyond isolated protocols and toward larger, interoperable ecosystems. If successful, the merger could become a defining case study in how AI-focused blockchain projects seek to combine technology, tokenomics, and market positioning into a single networked strategy.
