David Schwartz has pushed back against the idea that XRP is on track to hit $100. In a post on X, the former Ripple CTO said those triple-digit targets do not match what the market is actually signaling today.
If $100 were credible, major buyers would already be in
Schwartz framed the issue around investor behavior. If sophisticated capital genuinely believed XRP had a strong chance of reaching $100 within the next few years, he argued, those buyers would already be moving aggressively into the asset. Investors with real conviction would be competing for available supply now, and that demand would likely drive the token much higher long before it ever approached $10.
That has not happened. XRP is still trading below $10, which Schwartz said suggests that only a limited share of the market believes such a dramatic revaluation is plausible.
Social media price targets clash with actual market pricing
Schwartz also criticized the inflated targets that have circulated in the XRP community for years. Numbers such as $589 and even $1,000 have been promoted by social media personalities, but he said those projections are not reflected in how real investors are positioning.
His point was that even if a meaningful group of market participants thought XRP had just a 10% chance of reaching $100, the asset would already be valued far above its current level. The article cited XRP at $1.76, a price that, in his view, points to weak market confidence in those extreme upside scenarios.
Schwartz said he has made price mistakes too
He also acknowledged that crypto markets remain hard to predict. Schwartz said he has been wrong before, recalling that he sold his XRP holdings when the token was around $0.10. Looking back, he described that decision as a mistake given how much the asset rose afterward.
His comments were not presented as a fresh price forecast. They were a rebuttal to the idea that widely shared targets automatically carry market credibility. For now, his argument is simple: current trading behavior does not support the belief that XRP is likely to surge to $100 anytime soon.
