General Tensor has raised $5 million in a seed funding round led by Good Morning Holdings—a Goldman Sachs-backed investment vehicle—alongside Lok Lee. The company focuses on infrastructure within the Bittensor ecosystem, offering validator operations, subnet development, and DeFi applications.
Backing and Investors
The seed round was led by Good Morning Holdings, reflecting growing institutional interest in decentralized AI. Previous pre-seed funding in 2024 was led by Lvna Capital, with participation from DCG, X Ventures, Proof of Talk, and Outliers Fund. Both rounds were oversubscribed, signaling strong demand for decentralized AI solutions.
Alan Casis, CEO of Lvna Capital, noted that when leading the pre-seed round in 2024, decentralized AI showed significant potential but infrastructure was still nascent. He cited General Tensor's integrated technical model and production efficiency as key differentiators.
Expansion Plans
The new funds will be allocated to strengthening validator operations, upgrading subnet performance, and scaling DeFi suites. In February 2026, the company rebranded RoundTable21 to General Tensor Validator (GTV) to underscore its long-term infrastructure commitment. It operates multiple validators and miners supporting the generation of Bittensor's native token, TAO.
General Tensor claims its vertically integrated infrastructure yields a 40x efficiency improvement over passive holding strategies. CEO Mike Grantis emphasized that the firm builds infrastructure to produce TAO, not just hold it, enabling token generation at a fraction of market cost.
With global demand for AI applications rising, General Tensor's scaling is expected to benefit the broader Bittensor network and potentially influence TAO market dynamics. Institutional backing highlights growing expectations around decentralized AI platforms.
