Global government bond yields extended their upward move, with benchmark maturities in several major economies reaching fresh highs. The UK 10-year gilt yield rose 7 basis points to 5.29%, its highest level since August 2007. Germany's 10-year Bund yield increased 5 basis points to 3.39%. Italy's two-year yield touched its strongest level since 2024 during trading and was last quoted at 3.22%. In the United States, the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 4.816%, the highest reading since late 2023. The moves reflect continued upward pressure across long-dated government debt in major developed markets. Yields in the UK reached levels not seen in more than 18 years, while the US benchmark remained above the peaks recorded in the final months of 2023. The Italian short-dated yield also stayed near the upper end of its recent range after touching a multi-year high. The flash update from Odaily did not provide additional analysis on the underlying drivers, instead focusing on the latest yield levels across the four economies. Taken together, the figures show a broad-based rise in global borrowing costs, with no single market moving in the opposite direction.
