December 11, 2024 – Graphite Network has officially launched its next-generation Proof-of-Authority (PoA) blockchain, built on the innovative Polymer 2.0 algorithm. The platform aims to bridge traditional finance (TradFi) with Web3 capabilities through a set of unique features, including industry-first passive income for entry-point node operators, a reputation-based scoring system, and a secure multi-layered KYC process designed to enhance user trust and active participation.

Entry-Point Nodes: A New Passive Income Model

Unlike conventional blockchains where revenue relies heavily on tokens or external monetization, Graphite enables operators of entry-point (transport) nodes to earn passive income directly from transaction fees routed through their nodes. Node operators receive 50% of the fees from transactions passing through their nodes, while the remaining 50% goes to the block sealer. This structure allows enterprises, startups, and developers to generate passive income without taking on large validator responsibilities, significantly lowering the barrier to blockchain integration.

Trust and Privacy via Reputation-Based Architecture

Graphite's blockchain is architected around a reputation-based framework, providing a secure and trustworthy environment that respects both privacy and transparency. “For many people, crypto still feels uncertain—there’s a lack of trust, fears of financial loss, and concerns about scams,” said Marko Ratkovic, CTO at Graphite Network. “While this is a complex problem, Graphite marks a huge step forward in blockchain evolution by merging blockchain technology with a trust-based, inclusive financial model that enables both TradFi and Web3 users to participate securely.”

To support this model, Graphite enforces a ‘One User, One Account’ policy, requiring users to activate accounts with a small setup fee, preventing the creation of disposable wallets often used for suspicious transactions. The platform implements a multi-tiered KYC framework, starting with social media authentication as the first level, with additional verification levels planned for future releases. All interactions with the KYC center occur off-chain, keeping private data secure while meeting transparency requirements. Each user's reputation is represented by the Trust Score, influenced by parameters including KYC level, helping to identify and filter out transient or fraudulent activities.

Businesses can develop customized reputation-based smart contracts—for example, a bank could offer loans only to individuals meeting predefined reputation standards such as creditworthiness or account longevity. Users can set transaction filters based on KYC levels, blocking interactions with accounts that don't meet their preferred verification standards. Jurisdictional filtering options are also in development to accommodate regional regulatory constraints.

In terms of privacy, Graphite stores the Trust Score on-chain while keeping private user data off-chain. The platform plans to implement a Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP)-based KYC system, verifying information without accessing or sharing private data.

High-Performance Transactions and Seamless Integration

Aimed at mass adoption, Graphite offers speed and scalability: up to 1,400 transactions per second (TPS) with confirmation times under 10 seconds, far outpacing Ethereum's 15-20 TPS. High TPS capacity keeps network fees predictable and near-minimum, allowing confident expense planning. Compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) enables seamless migration of existing Solidity smart contracts, letting developers benefit from PoA efficiency.

Ecosystem and Road Ahead

The Graphite ecosystem includes Graphite Wallet (feature access and KYC), Graphite Bridge (cross-chain interoperability), Graphite Explorer (real-time blockchain data analysis), comprehensive API documentation, and a Testnet Faucet for experimentation. As a PoA Polymer 2.0 platform, Graphite is committed to bringing the advantages of TradFi into Web3, focusing on sustainability, reputation, transparency, efficiency, and privacy.
