Post-Attack Strategic Shift
In a first public response following a ~$36 million exploit, Humanity Protocol founder Terence Kwok announced on July 2 that the team will reduce its blockchain and decentralized identity focus and pivot toward enterprise AI products and services.
Kwok clarified that the attack stemmed from a compromise of developer devices, not a smart contract vulnerability. The likelihood of recovering the stolen funds is low. The current priorities are token migration, user claims and compensation, and subsequent business rebuilding.
This strategic turn marks a significant departure from Humanity Protocol’s original mission as a decentralized identity project built on blockchain. The transition to enterprise AI suggests a broader shift in the team’s vision amid the aftermath of the security breach.
