Iran’s state oil sector pushed back against claims that the country’s key export hub on Kharg Island had been destroyed. According to Nour News, National Iranian Oil Company CEO Hamid Bovard said on Monday that oil operations on the island had not stopped and rejected an earlier post by Donald Trump that described the island’s critical oil infrastructure as destroyed. Bovard said Trump’s message was “ridiculous” and added that conditions on Kharg Island were currently calm and normal. He also said 90% of Iran’s oil exports come from the island. Bovard noted that even though Kharg Island had previously been bombed multiple times by U.S. and Israeli forces, oil workers had not halted operations “for even a moment.” He added that contractors are now rebuilding and upgrading oil storage tanks and jetties.
