Jack Dorsey has rolled out a new group chat platform called Buzz, pitching it as an open and decentralized alternative for teams that might otherwise depend on tools such as Slack.

Buzz is aimed at human and agent teams
Dorsey wrote on X on Tuesday that Buzz is built for “teams of people and agents of all sizes” and described it as model-agnostic, decentralized, self-sovereign, and open source.
On its website, Buzz is presented as “a new native workspace for human and agent teams.” The product lets users chat with teammates and specialized agents in one shared space, then move directly into planning, project management, coding, and PR workflows.
Block says the app runs on Nostr
In a statement, Block said Buzz was built on the decentralized social networking protocol Nostr. The company added that the interface should feel familiar to people who have used modern team communication software.
“Every company is going to need a place where humans and agents work together,” said Bradley Axen, head of AI capabilities at Block. “The question is whether that place is proprietary or open. We built Buzz because we believe it should be open.”
Dorsey has kept pushing decentralized products
Dorsey, whose company Block owns Square and Cash App, has for years argued for decentralized systems, with Bitcoin at the center of that effort.
The Twitter co-founder left the social media company in 2021 to concentrate on payments and Bitcoin adoption. At the time, he said he wanted Bitcoin to become the global currency and everyday money. He has also called Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin white paper “poetry.”
Cash App lets users send, receive, buy, and sell Bitcoin. Square point-of-sale terminals also accept Bitcoin through the Lightning Network.
Block has also expanded its Bitcoin product lineup
Last year, Block introduced a Bitcoin mining rig with swappable parts, saying the design could help miners reduce the cost of repairing and replacing equipment.
