Taiwanese entertainer and crypto investor Jeffrey Huang, also known as Machi Big Brother, has increased his leveraged Ether position again. The latest Hyperliquid account data cited by Blockcast showed that as of the evening of Aug. 18, Huang held about 4,860 ETH in long positions with 25x leverage, giving the trade a notional value of roughly $9.225 million at an average entry price near $1,896.7. At the latest account snapshot, Ether’s mark price stood around $1,898.3, slightly above Huang’s average entry, leaving the position with about $8,019 in unrealized profit. The report said margin used was about $369,000 and the liquidation price had risen to about $1,875.8, leaving a price buffer of roughly 1.18%. The article also traced sharp position swings over recent days. Huang had cut his ETH holdings from about 5,264 on July 14 to 2,500 by Aug. 14, before rebuilding exposure. It listed a large opening on Aug. 10, partial closing on Aug. 11, two forced liquidations on Aug. 12, and another reduction on Aug. 14. Separately, Huang sold three Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs during the same stretch, though public data does not confirm whether proceeds were used to top up margin on Hyperliquid.

Taiwanese entertainer and crypto investor Jeffrey Huang, known as Machi Big Brother, has sharply increased his leveraged Ether bet again. According to the latest Hyperliquid account data cited in the report, Huang held about 4,860 ETH in long positions as of the evening of Aug. 18, using 25x leverage. The position carried a notional value of about $9.225 million, with an average entry price near $1,896.7.

The latest trade record showed Huang opening another long of about 2,360 ETH at 07:36 on Aug. 18 at roughly $1,895.1, a single transaction with a notional value of about $4.47 million.

He had previously reduced the position significantly. Huang held around 5,264 ETH on July 14, and that figure had fallen to 2,500 ETH by Aug. 14, a reduction of 52.5%. After the latest increase, the position climbed back to 4,860 ETH.

At the latest account snapshot, Ether’s mark price was about $1,898.3, slightly above Huang’s average entry of around $1,896.7. That left the position with roughly $8,019 in unrealized profit, a return of about 2.17%, while margin used stood at around $369,000.

Liquidation line moved up to $1,875.8

Huang’s liquidation price was listed at about $1,875.8. Based on the latest mark price of $1,898.3, the gap was about $22.5. The report said that meant ETH only needed to fall roughly 1.18% from that level for the position to move closer to liquidation.

With the liquidation line now at $1,875.8, Huang’s ETH exposure has expanded again to 4,860 ETH and more than $9.225 million in notional value. At 25x leverage, the room for price swings remains tight. The article said liquidation pressure would increase quickly if ETH moved back toward the $1,880 area.

Large position changes through mid-August

Huang’s position has changed sharply in recent days. On Aug. 10, he opened a 5,810 ETH long at about $1,894.1, for a notional value of around $11.01 million. On Aug. 11, he then closed 3,160 ETH at about $1,883.6, realizing a loss of about $31,400.

Early on Aug. 12, after ETH fell further, Huang was hit by two forced liquidations in quick succession. The first involved 730 ETH at around $1,861.6, with position value of about $1.36 million and a realized loss of roughly $23,300. Minutes later, another 584 ETH was liquidated at around $1,853.2, with position value of about $1.08 million and a realized loss of about $23,600.

Together, the two liquidations covered 1,314 ETH, with a combined notional value of about $2.44 million and total realized losses of around $46,900.

Later on Aug. 12, Huang opened another 1,100 ETH long at about $1,908.1, increasing his ETH exposure again.

On Aug. 14, he closed another 935 ETH at about $1,872.8, realizing a loss of around $23,800. That brought total holdings down to 2,500 ETH at one stage.

The latest data then showed Huang rebuilding the long once more. By the evening of Aug. 17, the position had recovered to 4,290 ETH. From the 2,500 ETH recorded on Aug. 14, that marked a 71.6% increase in three days, pushing notional exposure back above $8 million.

Three BAYC sales during the same period

During this stretch of pressure on the leveraged trade, Huang also sold several Bored Ape Yacht Club, or BAYC, NFTs.

  • BAYC #251 was sold on July 14, resulting in a loss of about 6.99 ETH.
  • On Aug. 5, Huang sold BAYC #5670 for 9 ETH. The NFT had originally been bought for 84.99 ETH, implying an ETH-denominated decline of about 89.4%.
  • On Aug. 13, he sold BAYC #5715 for 8.3 ETH. That NFT had been bought earlier for 34.17 ETH, a gap of 25.87 ETH and an ETH-denominated decline of about 75.7%.

All three BAYC transactions took place during a period when Huang was still adjusting his leveraged ETH long and facing higher liquidation risk.

Publicly available data confirms that the NFT sales and the leveraged ETH trading happened in roughly the same period. The report said it is still not possible to fully confirm whether funds raised from selling the BAYC assets were directly used to add margin on Hyperliquid.

The report added that Huang’s recent trading had shifted from aggressive position cuts back to increasing ETH exposure. It also noted that after ETH moved back above $1,900, his 4,290 ETH long had briefly returned to an unrealized profit, while the liquidation price had moved to $1,865.5, leaving a price buffer of about 2.1%. After active reductions, consecutive liquidations and the BAYC sales, Huang had expanded the 25x leveraged position again to more than $8.18 million, leaving short-term ETH price moves as the key factor for liquidation risk.
