BlockBeats reported on Oct. 3 that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang held about 870 million Nvidia shares as of March 23, 2026, representing 3.58% of the company.
Based on Nvidia’s share price of $231.49 in early October, that holding was worth about $201 billion. Forbes data showed Huang’s current net worth at about $200 billion, with most of his personal wealth coming from his Nvidia stake.
Huang is the largest known individual shareholder of Nvidia. Still, under U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rules, individual investors with holdings below 5% are not required to disclose their positions, which means an undisclosed individual shareholder with a larger stake cannot be ruled out.
Nvidia’s main institutional shareholders with stakes above 5% currently include BlackRock and Vanguard, which hold 7.43% and 7.31%, respectively.
Past ownership and compensation
Huang co-founded Nvidia in 1993. Before the company’s first stock split in 1999, he held about 2.9 million shares, or 9.9% of the company. If that entire position had been retained through subsequent stock splits, it would now be close to 2.8 billion shares, indicating that he later sold part of his holdings over time.
Huang can also receive Nvidia stock through performance-based compensation. In fiscal 2025, Nvidia paid him total compensation of $35.5 million, including a base salary of $1.5 million, a $3 million cash bonus, and about $31 million in equity granted in the form of 936,800 performance stock units, or PSUs.
